Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. ~ Psalm 119:89
The word ‘forever’ as an adjective means permanent, or unchanging, and according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary it also means “for a limitless time”. God’s word is established and eternal; it cannot be changed; it is finished; complete. Done. Period. God is the same yesterday, today, three years ago and forever. I can believe in God’s sovereignty, goodness, and faithfulness forever. I can trust that God’s ways will never change, and His love will never change. My hope and guidance for my life here on earth is rooted in the unchanging word of God. I know God’s word because I read the Bible to see what God’s word tells me and to glean wisdom and understanding that will never change. While the rules and laws of our world change on a yearly basis, God’s word cannot and will not be modified. You want to know what He thinks, or thought about something then open up the Bible and soak it in. His ways and thoughts will never change. Being rooted in God’s word will bring you great peace as you will have a sincere sense of consistency. Consistency because God’s love, faithfulness and goodness doesn’t change regardless of the chaotic world we live in, or even regardless of the crazy life we may live. God’s love for you looks the same whether you’re a faithful follower, or have messed up big time. His word is settled. He cannot change! His love cannot change. Yes, there may be consequences, but His love is not conditional; it’s consistent. It cannot be improved upon. God’s word and love is unchangeable and we need to be reading God’s word everyday to help us wade through the difficult and hard times. Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withers and the flower falls, but the word of our God endures forever.” This world, planet earth, one day will be no more, but God’s word will remain. It’s set in heaven forever. He’s will, will be done. ~ Amen
